All I have been doing lately is reading! Seriously neglecting a lot of things to just keep my nose in some books. Some really good books mind you. However, Two days without a shower and a couch cushion conformed to the shape of my rear end, suggest I may need some help. (I have rectified the shower problem, just so you aren't too grossed out!)
What have I read?
First off I finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
My brother purchased this book for me for my birthday in June and it seriously took me until the end of January to start reading it. I'm not proud of this, but I did read it and I am finished and I do like it. So there. While it had a really slow start to me, it ended up being really awesome and if I had to compare it to any other existing fantasy fiction, I would say that I see quite a bit of influence from Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Bottom line is it is a really fantastic read written by a fantastic author. His technique of writing gives me a strong impression that he reads and enjoys Classic Fantasy Fiction, but he is modern enough to where you don't have to struggle too hard to understand it. My brother says it strikes him as a "Harry Potter" for adults. I lean more toward Lord of the Rings though... but I do see hints of what my brother says. This is the first book out of a series. The next book, "The Wise Man's Fears", Comes out March 1st. I am really looking forward to it.
Next... I BEGAN "THE HUNGER GAMES" SERIES!!!
Amazing. I'm just going to say... I haven't been able to put these books down. It starts with "The Hunger Games." I don't like to sum up stories because I don't like to have things spoiled for me and I don't want to spoil anything for you. All I will say is that she has a way of bringing you into the story leaving you begging for the next book.
The next book in the series is "Catching Fire" and this is where I completely gave up on my life. All I cared about was Panem and District 13 and Hunger Games. HA HA HA. I finished this book in less than 24 hours. So good. So so good. I can't wait to begin "Mocking Jay" but I have to wait until I get my hands on the book.
So there you have it. I have been useless. And apparently Dave said that I had some nightmares last night, he said I woke up yelling once and talking in my sleep twice. Usually when I talk in my sleep, Dave tries to bait me to say more. He didn't though. He was too tired. I guess I am pretty entertaining when I talk in my sleep. I wouldn't know, but I wish I did. I guess if I did, it wouldn't be talking in my sleep. Ha.
Well. I hope you all are having great weeks. If you are a reader, and haven't checked out these books, you may want to. Especially if you like Fantasy Fiction and Young Adult Sci Fi Thrillers.

I seriously cannot wait for when I have the time to just sit and read a book all day (I've got my fingers crossed for this time next week!) so I totally don't blame you for doing so at all. As soon as I've gotten around to finishing The Dark Tower series, I'll be looking into these books for sure. Fantasy and sci-fi thrillers are some of my favourites!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great week too. Has the snow cleared up with you yet?
I can't believe I lost his copy. I need to replace it... he's just to nice to make feel all that obligated. (Haha)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until I graduate so I can read again...
AND ALSO, we need to hang out again. You should introduce me to Lydia, too ;)
At least you are doing something to expand your mind. I have had the first book of the hunger games for like 2 months and haven't started yet haha. I haven't read a book since the last twilight (embarrassing confession) and my husband totally talks in his sleep, I like to bait him. It is pretty entertaining. I'm glad to see your back for now :) Have a good night sweet thang;)
ReplyDeleteThese sounds like great reads!! ♥
ReplyDeletexo.
Absolutely loved Hunger Games - I bought the first book on a Friday, read it and went back to the store that night for the other two!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I was supposing to be working all I could think of is how I secretly wished I was ready the Hunger Games. I didn't clean or cook dinner for days until I finished them all!
ReplyDeletethat's what i've been doing two! i've finished 4 books in the past weekend and i am not stopping there. i love to read. its THE BEST. do you have a goodreads account? you should!
ReplyDeleteI've been on a reading kick lately too. I need some new books though so I'm glad you posted about these and I'm going to check out the library tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteNew you'd love them! Hope you don't have to wait too long for mockingjay. That other book will be going in my need to read list!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read these books. I've added them to my list. I could totally supply you with more books. I wouldn't be very helpful with the intervention ;)
ReplyDeleteI just finished those books, too, and I am the exact same. So I am not judging your lack of shower taking =]
ReplyDeleteAnd all I cared about was Panem. But now I'm finished and I wander around aimlessly. haha I need to find another book that will hold my attention like those ones did! Any suggestions?
I got the Hunger Games series for Christmas, I better get on reading it after these rave reviews I'm hearing. Keep on reading! :)
